U.T. System Video Network
The OTS Network Operations Center (NOC) serves as the nexus for the U.T. System interactive compressed digital video network and several others including networks operated by Texas A&M System, Texas Tech University, and various dial-up (ISDN) providers. These connections enable OTS to schedule videoconferences among U.T component campuses and to sites across Texas, the U.S., and the world.
The U.T. System Video Network is provided for higher education events and is not available for use by the private sector.
OTS provides interactive videoconferencing for the U.T. System componenet institutions. Departments, faculty and staff at any U.T. System component institution may request to host or participate in videoconferences for distance education; meetings; presentations; lectures; research; or supplemental educational, informational or administrative programming.
What is Videoconferencing?
Videoconferencing allows people at two or more locations to see and hear each other at the same time. Point-to-point videoconferencing allows for two parties to communicate from two different sites. Multipoint videoconferencing allows for multiple people at multiple sites to participate in one videoconference. Pacific Bell's Videoconferencing for Learning Web site is a useful resource for more information.
How to Schedule a Videoconference
